Статус «Jean Monnet Chair» может быть присвоен ученому и преподавателю, посвящающему всю свою работу исследованиям и преподаванию тех или иных измерений европейской интеграции (права, экономики, политики, истории и т.д.), грант закрепляется за университетом и может переходить от одного профессора к другому в течение трехлетнего срока действия программы. Статус «Ad personam Jean Monnet Chair» может быть присвоен лично ученому и преподавателю, после окончания действия программы «Jean Monnet Chair».
