English term or phrase: projections

XXX 222 is a liquid-proof glove. The cuff shape is designed to stop *projections* from entering the glove, preventing *snagging*.

Набросал вот такой черновой вариант, но не уверен в правильности понимания здесь слов "projections" и "snagging".

То ли это выступы, то ли брызги?

Форма её манжеты выбрана такой, чтобы не дать выступам (на предмете??) проникнуть в перчатку, благодаря чему предупреждается ее разрыв.

Да и с логикой у автора, по-моему, что-то не очень.
