I'm finding lots of conflicting info. Can someone confirm whether this is голубика, черника... I am not looking for scientific references, just the best known "popular" name.

Лесная черника. Я бы предпочла так, по поводу диких черник и лососей уже высказывалась.

То, что черника, это однозначно, вот она, родимая, в американской банке, мелкая и душистая, варенье первый сорт. Wild blueberry.

Есть тут в Штатах и садовая черника, которую в магазинах продают, называют просто blueberry - крупная, но даже близко не такая душистая, как с лесной полянки. Лесную ведь до магазинов не довезешь в массовом порядке, ее только в северных штатах на рыночках в сезон найти можно. Все как у людей:-)

А голубика даже выглядит по-другому - продолговатые сине-сизые ягоды на кустах гораздо более высоких, чем, скажем, российская черника. Растет на болотах. Ее названия разнятся, в том числе swamp blueberry, и они правильно приведены в Мультитране.

Explanation:
Is чернико-голубику hypenated in the text?, thereby meaning the same berry, in this case cranberry, i.e., "bought frozen cranberries and these cranberries [meaning fresh] themselves. As Alya rightly points out, there are many species of wild blueberries and черник and голубикa are different species of Vaccinium with numerous common names, including blueberry. Cranberry is also a Vaccinium species [macrocapon] (aka Oxycoccus macrocarpa). Consequently, I think, without other knowledge of the text, that the author is using чернико-голубикa as a synonym for клюквa. Just a wild guess....

Bilberry is a name given to several species of shubs of the Genus Vaccinium (Family Ericaceae) that bear tasty fruits. Included are Vaccinium myrtillus L. (also called Blaeberry, Whortleberry, Winberry, Myrtle Blueberry, and probably other names regionally), Vaccinium uliginosum L. (Northern Bilberry or Bog Blueberry), Vaccinium caespitosum Michx. (Dwarf Bilberry), and Vaccinium deliciosum Piper (Cascade Bilberry). Bilberries are found in damp, acidic soils throughout the temperate and subarctic regions of world. They are closely related to blueberries and cranberries —also in the Genus Vaccinium—of North America where plants similar to bilberries are called huckleberries.
Bilberries are rarely cultivated but fruits are sometimes collected from wild plants growing on public lands, notably in Scandinavia. Vaccinium myrtillus fruit is called blåbär in Swedish and mustikka in Finnish; Vaccinium uliginosum fruit is odon in Swedish and juolukka in Finnish. The fruits are eaten fresh or made into jams, juices or pies. They have therapeutic uses in herbal medicine.

Blueberry refers to plants of the Genus Vaccinium, which also includes cranberries, bilberries (also called blueberry), and many wild berries used by wildlife that are shrubs producing edible round blue \"berries\" (actually false berries) with flared \"crowns\" at the end. The fruit are first white, then reddish-purple, and turn blue on ripening; the fruit are also called blueberries, and have a sweet taste. Blueberries are used in jellies, jams, pies, and many other snacks and delicacies.
Blueberries are both cultivated and picked wild. In North America the most common cultivated species is V. corymbosum, the Northern Highbush Blueberry. Hybrids of this with other Vaccinium species, are adapted to southern US climates and are known collectively as Southern Highbush Blueberries.

-> That's why I asked if it was hyphenated in the original text, thereby making it a single berry species and perhaps referring back to клюква - I said it was a wild guess, since as you said чернико-голубикa does not exit in nature.

Так что даже при ошибке на картинке, думаю, стоит согласиться со словарем. :-)

Alya: словарям вообще я бы в вопросах названий организмов не доверяла. Главное, понять, какой смысл в слово вкладывают "они" -- нейтивы. А вот видите, на оригинальных сайтах мнения тоже разделяются, но все же чаще, по моим наблюдениям, все-таки это черника

голубика

Explanation:
There are 2 different types of those berries found in Siberia. One type is blueberry which is голубика, another type is blackberry which is черника. In general they do not say дикая голубика, just голубика as it grows wild anyway, I have never heard of anyone growing it in their yeard.
