(The condition is that glueboard is purchased in final size and that the veneer is ready-made).
The production of glueboard, components and veneer differs. Certain machines are common but
can be provided with different kinds of equipment. For a solid wood product the basic material is
processed and refined; the amount of waste and the rate of rejection depend on the quality of the
raw material (cracks, knot pick-up, resin pockets, pitch etc). A veneered product is built up and the
amount of waste and rate of rejection often depends on defects caused in the process (veneer comes
off, open joints, sand-through etc). Furthermore, defective veneer products can be improved by
re-edging for example.
