(see below) Explanation: Some information is missing in the context -- there was possibly a missing piece in the money "parquet" that the kids decide to "patch" not just with an even amount of covering, but with a full Jenga to "compensate" for the missing piece. It's a luxury extremity and perverseness that starts to show in children once they are around a lot of money -- just like with the adults. Other than for this reason, there is none why the word "patch" would appear in this context. |
