Достаточно трудно понять о чем идет речь с опечатками (human crystal structure) и пересказом вместо контекста.
Тем не менее, позволю предположить, что авторы говорили об использовании известных данных о кристаллической структуре данного белка (его человеческого варианта).
Можно было бы попробовать какой-то более-менее подходящий вариант перевода, если бы была вся фраза на английском.
