English to Russian translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Geology / Facies | | English term or phrase: that may occasionally have aligned | | The Sm-r lithofacies consists mainly of cross-bedded sands (mega-ripples) that may occasionally have aligned carbonate mud clasts (1-2 cm) mantling cross-bedded surfaces indicating a well-organized, long-standing flow. Sand grain size ranges from fine-upper to fine-lower. When carbonate clasts are absent, cementation is low and rock quality is good. In zones where carbonate clasts are common, carbonate cementation can decrease the rock quality (Fig. 3a). Amalgamated (sand-on-sand) surfaces can occur indicating periodic fluctuations in flow energy. This facies is best developed in the upper portion of the Bor-3 core (1520.0-1517.0 m). |
