In case a company for whatever reasons wants to repay the loan before maturity date there are break-funding costs. When a bank is putting in place a facility it expects to be repaid according to a repayment schedule and it expects a profit according to this schedule. If the borrower pays in advance there is primo a loss of profit for the bank but also a loss because it has committed the funds on which it pays ( see commitment fee). The breaking costs are expressed in % and are stipulated in the credit agreement. |
