Explanation:
Как правило, populations в социологических текстах переводится как "группы". В отличие от general population, что переводится как "население в целом". ТЕрмин "популяция" скорее используется в отношении животных и в микробиологии -- как "культура" микроорганизмов.
По-крайней мере, я всегда так перевожу. Клиенты пока что претензий не предъявляли.
