Это все в какой-то степени взаимозаменяемо, плюс можно какой-то из терминов обозвать непрозрачным, матовым (матово-желтый подойдет для cloudy например)

как отличить по-русски smoking and fuming -- боюсь, что никак: лингво дает для fuming задымление, - уже хорошо, можно считать, что smoky and fuming - синонимы. Atomica говорит, что fuming = vapor, gas, or smoke. Раз вам не годится мутный, серый и т. д., берите дымчатый. Ясно, что дымчато-желтый - это не то же самое, что мутно-желтый или грязно-желтый или серовато-желтый. в дымчатом чувствуется не мутность или серость, а поэзия. (я прям как на базаре продаю свой вариант)

fuming yellow = я все-таки полагаю, здесь речь идет о желтом дымке, которым, например, дымится кислота или что там у них

slightly turbid yellow - мутновато-желтый (т.е. не совсем мутно-желтый, как hazy yellow)
Но это все гадания "в крещенский вечерок".
А вот что было бы полезно: обнародовать также и названия веществ. Тогда можно порыться в русскоязычных источниках и узнать, какой цвет приписывают у нас этим желтым субстанциям. Пришлите такое дополнение, а?

What is "fuming"?

We have a finish spec which reads "white oak, bleached and lightly fumed". What is "fumed"?

Fuming is a process where the fumes of ammonia (a gas) are used on woods that have natural tannin. The ammonia fuming depends on how much tannin is in the wood. The fuming process is used to turn the color of these woods into other shades of yellow and honey-browns. Oak, chestnut, redwood and hemlock are high in tannins. The color the wood turns will depend on the strength of the ammonia and the length of time the wood is fumed.

A word of caution: You need to be very careful using ammonia. This should be done in an outdoor tent. Before you begin, spend some time researching safe fuming.

Why would you want to bleach and fume the same piece? One will lighten/burn and the other will darken/age.

Bleaching and ammonia can be a dangerous combination, unless you completely neutralize the bleach with a good "washing with clear water."
You may want to try using a dye stain to achieve the color, instead of going through the bleaching and fuming process on a big job. You could make up a couple of small samples, doing a bleach, then a good water wash, allow to dry, then do a fuming in a small plastic tent (outside) to see the colors you can get from the fuming.

It may be easier/safer to first bleach the wood and then use an NGR to replicate the look.

I hope you're not dead yet. If you are still breathing after the above advice, fuming has several definitions in finishing. The first is as explained above. The second, to spray a "fume" coat, is a light misty spray. The third and probably the most likely is to "fume with a wire brush." Simply put, wire brushing the oak to open the grain.

Я почему-то уверена, что речь идёт об анализе мочи, а точнее о степени помутнения мочи. Я нашла много сайтов, использующих спрашиваемые Вами термины, и все они о прозрачности мочи. Прозрачность описывается рядом по степени мутности: CLEAR, HAZY, CLOUDY, TURBID или CLEAR, SLIGHTLY CLOUDY, MODERATELY CLOUDY, CLOUDY, TURBID. Прозрачность, разумеется, уменьшается, а мутность увеличивается в этом ряду. HAZY часто используют вместо SLIGHTLY CLOUDY, а SLIGHTLY CLOUDY и SLIGHTLY TURBID, похоже, означают одну и ту же степень мутности. Термин FUMING стоит отдельно. Если это не "дымящаяся", то мне кажется, oн относится к описанию интенсивности оттенка, a не мутности.
Кстати, в одной и той же статье используется либо slightly cloudy, либо slightly turbid. Очевидно, между ними нет разницы.
Таким образом, я бы перевела Ваши термины как:
1) hazy yellow - жёлтая с незачительными/лёгкими помутнениями (слегка мутная).
2) cloudy yellow - жёлтая с умеренными помутнениями (умеренно мутная).
3) fuming yellow - (название, придуманное для описания интенсивности оттенка) интенсивнo жёлтая.
4) slightly turbid yellow = slightly cloudy yellow. Вы либо используете термин slightly turbid либо slightly cloudy.
5) cloudy fuming yellow - интенсивнo жёлтая с умеренными помутнениями(умеренно мутная).
6) slightly turbid fuming yellow - интенсивнo жёлтая с незачительными помутнениями (слегка мутная).

Должна признать, что нет большой срогости в использовании этих характеристик мутности. Кто-то уточняет степень мутности через cloudiness (slightly cloudy, moderately cloudy, cloudy), кто-то - черрез tobidity (slightly tobid, moderately tobid, etc.), а кто-то подчёркивает разницу в мутности, используя cloudy для более слабой мутности, чем turbid.
