It took a couple of months until I could pin the elusive Freddie down for another lesson while he was visiting NYC. He got us a room at Drummers Collective and as soon as I walked in, he walked out for a smoke... After I sat around the room for five, ten minutes and with no sight of Freddie, I got behind one of the kits and started to play for myself. And I played, and played, and played... and I must have played for about 15 minutes when the door opened and Freddie entered the room. I stopped, but he told me to continue, so I did and went on for another five to ten minutes. While I was playing he sat behind me, listened and watched... And at some point he pat my shoulder to signal that I could take a break. So I stopped. And he asked: "So... what is it that you want from me?"
At that point I understood that this was not just a simple answer, but a test. And whatever my answer would be, it would affect the quality of the remaining 40 minutes of my lesson. Later someone told me that Freddie stood outside the whole time listening to my playing before he came in. And based on his observations during those few minutes alone, he acquired enough insight to ***potentially deconstruct and reassemble me into a better player.***

Речь идет о преподавателе-барабанщике, которому достаточно было понаблюдать немного за учеником, чтобы понять, как с ним следует работать.

Собрать музыканта из винтиков? Оригинальная идея. У Певзнера, может, и получилось бы, по заказу Центра Помпиду. Образность, она, конечно, образность, но, на мой взгляд, - не та.
Михаил, возможно, чуть лучше было бы "до винтиков", чем "на винтики". Смысл тот же, что "на части", но мне "винтики" нравятся больше, мне кажется, это смешнее, что для этого текста неплохо. Почему не подходит по логике, на Ваш взгляд?
