Russian translation: выдержка / реплика

English term or phrase: soundbite
soundbites - The term "soundbites" originates in the mass electronic media, especially television. Politicians have learned that rather than giving long, complicated answers to questions, it is more effective that they give short little responses that will sound good when played over and over again. These little 'bites' of sound are called "soundbites." So an advisor might say to a candidate, 'don't give that reporter a long answer. All he wants is a soundbite!" The term has been extended to mean any little attractive idea or news bit (a "news flash") that you want to promote or advertise. (It can carry the sense of being a bit insubstantial).

I understand the meaning and where the term comes from, but I cannot find a really good Russian equivalent. Thanks for your help.

Explanation:
В интернете нашлось вот что:

Soundbite - "звуковой укус". Предполагается, что способность публики сосредоточиваться на рекламе по радио или TV ограничена 30 секундами. Теле- и радиорекламы (the commercials) редко превышают это время. Поэтому политики talk in sound bites, чтобы достичь максимального эффекта.

Мне не слишком нравится "звуковой укус" (хотя в определенных случаях это бы, пожалуй, подошло). Но ведь слово bite можно также перевести как "изюминка", "конфетка", "клубничка" (Пример: The party's election propaganda lacked bite and purpose. —Предвыборной агитации у этой партии недоставало "изюминки" и цели.)
Так почему бы не сказать "звуковая изюминка"?

agree  michnick: Вполне можно обойтись и без "звуковая". Тогда подойдет и в более широком смысле.

Explanation:
"Телеграфный стиль" - это и есть краткие реплики, в которых содержится только суть. (Может быть, телеграф и устарел в смысле скорости передачи информации, зато фраза в русском языке закрепилась).
Удачи
