English term or phrase: Need help becoming a translator

I'm a sophomore in college and I'm taking my second year of Russian and my first year of French. I'm thinking of becoming a linguist, but I don't exactly know how to get started once I graduate. Can you give me some advice or some links to pages that might help me out? Thank you

You might try Glenn's Guide to Translation Agencies, which can be downloaded from the first URL below. I found it helpful.
The American Translators Association (second URL) might also be of some help to you though I have no personal knowledge of it.
If your native language is English, you would do better to stick to Russian to English rather than attempting English to Russian.

in such effort than attempt to know more about your subject ?! Then I offer you one good idea !! Way not try to speak/read more Russian in your case, - quite an opposite in my attempt to know more English... So,do you understand me ? I offer you best way to become translator -> co-operate with me, native Russian with the same demand ,like yours. All those links above would not cost a halfpenny without
good (GOOD, Yes, I mean GOOD understanding )of the subject. I can give you a hundred links right away, - barely it would help.... (Do you feel irony from the first answer above !!??
