English term or phrase: Guided Wave Radar
Replace displacer type level (if applicable) and interface transmitters in external chambers with direct mounted devices (typically displacer or Guided Wave Radar type). This direct-mounting of instruments in vessels is frequently unacceptable to Operating Companies because of the difficulty in maintaining or removing them, particularly if they have moving parts (e.g. float or displacer type). However, the Guided Wave Radar (GWR) type has no moving parts and so may be accepted as a direct-mounted device. One SUPPLIER of GWR devices has provided evidence of previous Kazakhstan approval. GWR devices can also be used for oil/water interface level measurement, provided that the interface is clean and distinct (i.e. a shallow interface layer with no foaming).
