English to Russian translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Petroleum Eng/Sci / circulation sub | | English term or phrase: fishable | The Multiple Opening Circulation Sub (MOCS) is a circulation sub that allows unlimited cycling
between drilling fluid flowing to the drill bit, and porting to the annulus at the tool.
In the Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA), the MOCS is often placed above a drilling motor or a
steerable drilling tool. The tool is hydrostatically balanced and compensated for thermal
expansion. It is capable of porting fluid to the annulus at a flow rate of up to 700 gpm. It can be
utilized in water, water based muds, and oil based muds that are between 8 to 16 lbs/gal. The
tool can tolerate a small amount of Lost Circulation Material (LCM) ranging from nut plugs to
lubra beads.
To activate the tool, the operator will drop the ball and increase the drilling fluid flow to the
required activation rate. A noticeable pressure difference will indicate that the drilling fluid has
changed from flowing to the drill bit, to porting to the annulus.
To deactivate the tool, the operator will halt the flow for approximately 30 – 90 seconds before
returning it to the normal rate; at this time the drilling fluid will flow to the drill bit.
To reactivate the tool, the operator will once again halt the flow for approximately 30 – 90
seconds, and then increasing the flow to the activation rate.
The drop ball is *****fishable***** to stop the cycle mechanism, and to re-establish an open ID for MWD
fishing applications. |
