Восприятие глубины
У людей (и большей части хищников) глаза расположены спереди на голове. Подобное расположение улучшает восприятие глубины, позволяя охотнику лучше оценивать расстояние до своей жертвы.
Кроме стереоскопического зрения, ощущение глубины складывается ещё и из-за монокулярных "сигналов" глубины (эти "сигналы" глубины могут обеспечиваться только одним глазом или, если быть более точным, 2D-версией картинки, которую вы получаете). Подобные "сигналы" глубины очень важны для хорошего 3D-видения, поскольку ваш мозг ожидает стереоскопического восприятия в тесном соответствии с 2D-восприятием просматриваемой сцены.
