Operation of a vacuum triode in the collector-assisted mode has been reported in [3] using a single tip, (100) monocrystalline tungsten emitter. I-Vc curves at three different emitter-to-collector distances have been presented and the data have been fitted to the Fowler-Nordheim formulism assuming that the field at the tip can be expressed by E = βVg + γVc. The device in [3] is not of micromachined dimensions. The gate diameter is 380 µm and the tip-to-gate recess is 250 µm.
