Art/Literary - Poetry & Literature / XVII century | | English term or phrase: meeting house | меня интересует, как правильно перевести meeting house в контексте пуританской общины 17 века (у меня в тексте — молодая Америка, англичане только что пересекли океан, чтобы строить новую жизнь)
у них везде эти meeting houses — мультитран говорит "молитвенный дом", но это как-то странно звучит, мне кажется: там ведь не только молились, там вообще всякие сборища проводились, и это было, как я понимаю, главное строение в городе
есть у кого-нибудь идеи или познания?
