Gite is a French word, which has been adopted into the english language. It is used to describe basic accomodation (typically for vacation) which is rented
out. For example, I may have my main house and build several small buildings each of which is rented out to tourists and people on vacation. Gites are typically run as a small family business, often just as additional revenue.
They are usually in a separate building which has a couple of bedrooms, toilet and perhaps a small kitchen.

так, например, на горнолыжных курортах предлагается снять в аренду есть "домики"
