The Bible Jesus Christ has in his hand reads: “Peace be upon you and I am the light of the world”.
Ув. коллеги! Подскажите, пожалуйста, точный эквивалент на русском. Речь идет о мозаичном изображении, но я полагаю, что эта фраза должна присутствовать в Библии.
Peace be upon you - это из ислама и иудаизма: "Мир вам"
I am the light of the world - это и Евангелия от Иоанна (8:12)

Давайте не будем ссориться! Тем более из-за этого текста. А текст мне достался не супер - английский перевод с турецкого. Ляпов в этом переводе - сколько душе угодно. Давайте не будем терять из-за этого время и портить отношения. Благодаря вашей помощи, я поняла ситуацию. Этого вполне достаточно.
Хотелось бы возразить вам. В вопросе приведен не произвольный текст, а точные цитаты из канонического английского варианта Библии:

Поэтому и переводить их, на мой взгляд, надо, как принято. Все-таки это не тот текст, где допустимо творчество (разумеется, я не исключаю переложений, но мы говорим о переводе).
Что же касается моего якобы неподобающего поведения, то и тут я вынужден с вами не согласиться. Не знаю, какую букву регламента я нарушил, но дух кудоза, как я его понимаю, заключается в том, чтобы помочь аскеру всеми разумными средствами. Я привел материал, которым воспользовался бы и сам, буде мне предложили бы данный текст для перевода.
