"Kupac nudi diskont, cenu po kojoj je spreman sada da plati zapis za koji će mu država posle 90 dana isplatiti punu cenu. Treba obratiti pažnju da se diskontna stopa izražava na godišnjem nivou. Pa tako, primera radi, ako ste za jedan zapis spremni da platite 9.750 dinara (nominalna vrednost), nudite u stvari diskontnu stopu od 10 odsto (na godišnjem nivou). Vaša zarada nakon 90 dana iznosiće 250 dinara (ili 2,5 odsto)."
