Pots used to be constructed from ‘withy’ or willow, but are now constructed from plastic-coated or galvanised wire with nylon netting. This makes them virtually indestructible. Modern pots or ‘parlour pots’ are also more complex and fitted with ‘pot-locks’, making escape impossible for the crab or lobster entering it.
