Answer Explanations
Answer (a) is incorrect. Note that the present value of an ordinary annuity assumes payments start at the end of the first period. Therefore, there is a “built in” one-period delay, so only nine periods (not ten as in Answer a.) are used in the present value of $1 part of the equation.
Answer (b) is the correct answer. The name of the pattern of cash flows in the stem and correct answer (b) is the present value of an ordinary annuity of twenty payments deferred nine additional periods.
