Esquela, tarjeta de felicitación etc seem too specific to me and tarjeta too general.

Explanation:
"Tarjeta de participación" se use habitualmente para bodas, por ejemplo. Se anuncia el acontecimiento sin necesariamente invitar a la celebración. Si se quiere abarcar ambas situaciones (comercial y familiar), ¿por qué no "tarjeta de presentación o participación"?

Anuncio o comunicado del tamaño de una tarjeta.

No estoy segura del contexto pero creo que se refiere mas bien al formato y que bien se puede usar para otro tipo de anuncio como nupcias, nacimientos, etc. En EEUU cuando uno quiere publicar algo en el periódico o en las 'Páginas Amarillas' con frecuencia se pregunta el tamaño del anuncio. Entre eso existe el tamaño 'business card size'

Si vemos que se trata de publicidad no creo que se refiera a trajeta de presentación.

"This was written with business announcement cards in mind". Creo que la idea es una tarjeta de presentación utilizable tambien para cualquier evento social.
"announcement" implica, en tarjetas, un anuncio/participación y no influye mayormente en la traducción.
