Este término aparece en un glosario particular como "gato del eje", pero al introducirlo en google no me da casi ningún resultado. Habrá alguna expresión más frecuente para ello? Alguien experto en aviones (en este caso hidroaviones) lo ha visto en algún texto del área??

Si la empresa fabrica soportes y estructuras para el mantenimiento del avión (para mantenerlo en posición mientras lo reparan), debe ser esto, un gato o soporte. Si fabrica piezas para el tren de aterrizaje, podría ser otra cosa. Siento no poder ayudarte más.
