Crater Lake has been an important site for vision quests for many thousands of years and is still used for this sacred purpose today.

Yo utilizaría el término "buscar visiones" ya que era lo que hacían los nativos americanos.

Como en cualquier otro sitio de Norteamérica los componentes de la búsqueda de visiones eran el aislamiento, el ayuno y la meditación. La visión llegaba generalmente en la forma de un animal o un pájaro que entonces se convertían en el espíritu guardián o espíritu auxiliador del individuo.
