English term or phrase:a home, a place where they belong
Same as my previous question. From an essay to introduce an art exhibit of a Mexican painter. Context:
The artist makes the men appear to be a natural part of the landscape. Even the fact that both men are shirtless seems to suggest that the men are appearing in their natural state--at home in their natural surroundings. At home in the landscape of a transplanted Mexico in the United States. Perhaps the landscape in the background gives the subjects ** a home, a place where they belong.** The result is that they appear more solitary, more displaced.
Here "home" refers to the landscape. The RAE defines hogar as "casa o domicilio", the structure, so that doesn't fit here. The word belong also presents problems, I don't like using "pertenecer", any ideas for this phrase?
