Pues no es una traducción oficial, ni mucho menos, pero tratando de olfatear así como dices, con mi nariz de oso, el ruidito que escucho y que podría transcribir onomatopéyicamente serían las letras mmff mmff mmff combinadas.

Pero es una traducción totalmente subjetiva!! :^))

Depende... si el personaje está oliendo algo lo que más se ve es snif(f), calcado del inglés. Si se hispanizase sería esnif, lo cual parece más correcto, pero es menos común. El verbo que se usa para referirse a esta acción concreta es olfatear u olisquear.

Si el personaje está a punto de llorar (no sé si se adapta a tu caso) puedes usar algo como sig(g), e incluso snif(f) otra vez. La acción en este caso sería la de gimotear o lloriquear, e incluso "hacer pucheros" (puede sonar de bajo registro).
