neutral  Susana Galilea: this is similar to posada's answer, it means "to be fed up with"

agree  Terry Burgess: This is very common in Mexico. Also, I DISAGREE with Susana because to be "fed up with something" is NOT the only meaning of this term.
31 mins

I HAVE TO RECTIFY

Explanation:
my "neutral" to "posada".

Could it be that the difference in meaning between "to be fed up" and "to be up to one´s armpits" lays in how you continue the expression in Spanish?

"Estoy hasta la coronilla DEL trabajo" = I´m fed up with the work".
and

"Estoy hasta la coronilla DE trabajo" =
"I´m upp to my armpits in work".

Or am I slipping? (again ;-)
