ikat Explanation: Los colores amarillo, verde y dorado, por ejemplo, se obtienen de las raíces y el tallo del MICHAY, el rojo encarnado del ROBLE PELLÍN, el rojo ladrillo del QUINTRAL, varios tonos de gris con el CHILCO y de violaceos con el MAQUI, el marrón oscuro con la corteza de RADAL. Existen técnicas "negativas" de teñido que se realizan ya tendida la urdimbre en el telar o luego de tejida la tela. El IKAT es la técnica mediante la cual se preserva la parte de los hilos de la urdimbre, que se quiere conservar en color natural, cubriéndola con una pasta de tierra arcillosa blanca (MOLLA-MOLLA) impermeable al tinte.
