English to Spanish translations [PRO] Science - Astronomy & Space / A religious book about the Creation/evolution debate | | English term or phrase: there is gravitationally bound mass and dust | Short period comets
There are a number of comets which circumvent our sun in long elliptical orbits coming from beyond Pluto and eventually within the orbit of the earth. It has been shown that comets are made primarily of water, ammonia and a few other elements. The description of comets as ‘dirty snowballs’ may be correct, but others suggest rather that ***there is gravitationally bound mass and dust*** with frozen volatiles in orbit, around a primary nucleus. All agree that the nucleus can be as small as a few kilometres across. |
