English term or phrase: (un)bounded
In his recent work, Humphrey starts with the basic ideas of General Relativity upon which the Expanding Universe ideas are based and alters two major assumptions. Firstly, he considers an initially ***bounded*** cosmos (present theories make this ***unbounded***) and secondly he places the earth near the centre (the traditional big bang hypothesis had no natural ‘centre’). The same mathematics is used, yielding startlingly different conclusions. These have to do with the gravitational time dilation predicted by the general relativity theory. It has been proved experimentally that clocks designed to the same standard, tick 5 microseconds a year slower at the Royal Greenwich Observatory, England, than at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, previously National Bureau of Standards, NBS) at Boulder in Colorado, USA, which is situated 5,000 feet up in the Rocky Mountains. Consequently when the assumption of a natural centre of a ***bounded*** expanded cosmos is made in the general relativity model of the universe, there is a very large disparity in the rate of physical processes (i.e. rates of clocks) at points well away from the centre, and points near the centre.
