English term or phrase: discussion

Hello, I am translating a text regarding test methods for car oils and I am having trouble with the definition for the term "discussion". The context is as follows:

"Discussion- Wear generally occurs between two surfaces moving relative to each other, and is the result of mechanical or chemical action or by a combination of mechanical and chemical actions"

My problem is not with the definition it self, but with the defined word, "discussion", I can´t find an appropiate equivalent.
