English term or phrase: a Buffer
Dear colleagues,
I reach out to you because I am really not sure of the meaning of "buffer" in this context.

It's an internal survey about car repair work at a car dealership workshop.
When addressing the issue about workshop capacity, the whole phrase says: "a buffer is arranged for additional work".

My translation is "se dispone un amortiguador para trabajo adicional". I feel it's not what it means.

Thank you all in advance.

gasto imprevisto
Explanation:
I believe it refers to a "buffer" in the sense of "contingency" costs for repairs.

One idea:

imprevistos (= gastos) incidentals
