As part of an environmental permit study in Mexico:
"A Marine Biological Survey - Included literature study; sediment, water and plankton sampling; and **dive-biologist** observation of habitats and biota."
The only reference I have found is to a "biólogo marino-buzo", but I am uncertain as to whether this is the term I am looking for.

Hola Carlos,

Normal que no hayas encontrado nada porque es un término un poco "inventado", siendo lo más aproximado "biólogo submarino", aunque un biólogo submarino no tiene por qué ser un submarinista.

No obstante, lo que quieres recoger es el sentido de que las observaciones se han hecho por biólogos mientras buceaban.

Bien, como practicante del submarinismo, te diré que se nos puede llamar submarinstas, buceadores, buzos, pero por lo general en lo que no hay discusión es que una 'sesión' bajo el agua se llama 'una inmersión', en inglés 'a dive'.

Así, la frase quedaría "e inmersiones de biólogos para la observación de/para observar..."
