English term or phrase: swept roster
It appears as a characteristic used to distinguish between two types of plants in a dichotomous key. TIA.

Spanish translation:rostelo en [forma de] flecha
Explanation:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rostellum

Explanation:
I understand that a dichotomous key is a tool that allows the user to determine the identity of items in the natural world. Keys consist of a series of choices that lead the user to the correct name of a given item. "Dichotomous" means "divided into two parts". Therefore, dichotomous keys always give two choices in each step. The swept roster must be a list of some kind that "sweeps" options away. I'm not familiar with the topic, but it's an option.

neutral  DLyons: It's possible Alistair, but as you say "rostel" is obsolete in English and "rostellum" is now used. And the given term is "roster" rather than "rostel".
