Below you´ll find all possible meanings of the verb "reportar" accepted by the Real Academia de la Lengua Española.

However and probably because of the English influence, the verb "reportar" is usually heard, though not technically (linguistically!) correct as per the DRAE. I would certainly welcome it as there isn´t a verb in Spanish to convey that meaning, which comprises the idea of "informing" but assuming that the reporting party is below the other party (think of an organization chart for example).
