W-2, W-4, Forma 1099, etc... Explanation: It depends, what country? The only hispanic country that I know of that can claim taxes using those terms is Puerto Rico. If thats the case, then there is no change in those terms. PR uses them as they are used in the US. I know I am originally from PR currently living in the US for the past 13 yrs. W-2 - Salario e Impuestos. This tells the employee how much he made at the ned of the year, how much was taken for fedearl taxes, social security, etc. Declaracion W-4 - Retencion de Pension para el Empleado. This is the form that employees fill when one gets a new job. Here one claims dependents. Forma 1044 - Devolucion de Impuestos Individuales de los E.E.U.U. This is the form to be filled out at the beginning of the following year to claim your tax refund for the previous year. Forma 1099 (Miscellaneous Income)- Ganancias Miscelaneas o diversas. One receives this form from services renderes to clients. Example - I am an independent contractor and render services to "yx" company. "yx" claims what they pay me as an expense in their tax return. They send me a 1099 Form, showing me how much money I made with them. I turn this 1099 to IRS along with a 1044 form to show the extra income I made. I hope this helps. |

Go to IRS Explanation: Suggestion: IRS actually has most of their publications translated into Spanish. I would use them as a reference, as THEY ARE the Agency that you should use as a source.
