Bolt-on Company: A small company merged into or acquired by a consolidator's local platform company. Also referred to as an "add-on" company.
Consolidation: The aggregation of companies within an industry for the purpose of creating a bigger and stronger competitor. Consolidation is normally driven by the cost savings that can be achieved through economies of scale.
