"Protic" significa que actúa como dador de protones (H+).

La IUPAC recomienda el uso del sinónimo "protogenic".

En castellano, los términos correctamente formados son "protógeno/aprotógeno". En la práctica, se usa mucho más "protogénico/aprotogénico" o sobre todo, por influencia del inglés, "prótico/aprótico".

En cuanto al par "solvente/disolvente", la frecuencia de uso varía de un país a otro. La entrada principal del DRAE (con la acepción química) es "solvente".
