Phishing Malware
Our second BP example brings us on to malware. Malware’ is the generic name for malicious software. Phishers use malware to gather information from your computer WITHOUT your knowledge. Phishing fraudsters generally use a type of malware called ‘spyware’ that installs itself onto your computer when you access a phishing website. Alternatively, the spyware may be disguised as a seemingly genuine email attachment. Either way, once installed on your computer, it bypasses your security in order to transmit information to criminals over the Internet.
