Bueno, es una forma de expresarlo, seguro que hay muchas más. De primeras, no me vienen combinaciones buenas con "atraer" que quizá fuese más fiel a "draw" en este caso.

Su efecto será el de sumergir...me suena mejor que "esto tendrá el efecto de". El "Esto" que necesita "tendrá" me suena poco español en esta construcción. :O)
