And in the latest eWeek publication, Andrew Garcia writes about a new breed of anti-virus vendors – emerging players that offer advances that stagnant *AV incumbents* lack.

I believe that AV stands for Anti-virus, is it possible? Many thanks!

Oops... I read your question a little better, and the article you reference, and AV would definitely stand for Anti-Virus in this context. Emergin players would refer to new companies and AV incumbents would be companies like Norton.
