Si es un servidor, se suele decir que se ha "caído el servidor".
SI no hablamos de un servidor de aplicaciones o servidor web, sino de un procesi más genérico, entonces me suena mejor "interrupción (temporal) del servicio".
tendrá que reclamar a parte, si quiere que le indemnicen, los daños y perjuicios adicionales que le haya causado la interrupción del servicio. ...

Otro importante problema de los backups es la interrupción del servicio que necesitan para poder funcionar.
