Estimados colegas,

Me ha surgido una duda de aquellas que es tan básica que finalmente me he perdido.
Traduciendo un manual sobre computación, en equipo con otros traductores, veo que algunas veces algunos usamos bytes para traducir "bytes" y otros usamos "bits" para la misma palabra.

Alguien podría quizá clarificar la diferencia entre esto. La RAE tiene las dos acepciones y me he confundido, al parecer no es lo mismo...

Explanation:
1 bit = un 0 o un 1 en binario
1 byte = 8 bits
1kilobyte = 1024 bytes
1megabyte = 1024 kilobytes

etc.

m. Unidad de medida de la capacidad de almacenamiento de la información de un ordenador, formada normalmente por 8 bits. 1 Octeto.

Se usan ambas.


Explanation:
Son medidas de capacidad de memoria, un byte equivale a 8 bits, por lo tanto no los puedes usar como si fueran lo mismo. Generalmente Byte se abrevia con una "B" (mayúscula) y bit con una "b" minúscula. Saludos!
