Explanation:
"Unidad" covers a multitude of possible drives. You are pretty safe going with this term. "Dispositivo" can also refer to things that are not media drives (printers, modems, network cards, sound cards, video cards, etc.)

\"Asker: Stuart - necesito la frase completa. I have to say that the drive has no media in it at the time.\" OK! Then I\'d go with Indiana\'s version: \"si no hay medios disponibles en esa unidad\". I think it is the most accurate technically, and best conveys the meaning. \"Dispositivo de almacenamiento\" is probably too broad here, since it includes devices that are neither drives nor media (eg. a memory stick, flash card, etc.), and \"dispositivo\" by itself is even broader.
