Viendo el aporte de trnet, veo que mi propuesta se basó más en la explicación de Carlos que en el texto fuente en Inglés. Efectivamente, pasarela es un puente o pasillo peatonal. Otra opción sería considerarlo el apuntalamiento de las paredes del hoyo o zanja, y en ese caso usaría "contrafuertes"
