Lo traduje como "líquido extintor de incendios". No estoy seguro si debo traducirlo como "líquido" o como "fluido", pues tal parece que ¿ambos términos no son exactamente equivalentes en español?

Es correcto el término fluído ya que engloba no solo al agua sino a espumas y suspensiones no acuosas como las del tipo A+B+C.
Hay que diferenciar entre extintor y supresor de fuego.

Asker: Entiendo, la traducción es sobre un sistema de aspersores contra incendios, pienso que "incendio" se encuentra dentro de un mejor contexto, pues la traducción trata específicamente sobre la diferencia que pueden hacer estos aspersores (entre fuego y un potencial incendio). Ahora bien, el texto no habla mucho sobre el fluido o "producto", se enfoca más bien al sistema de tubería para transportarlo y a sus cualidades de resistencia al fuego, etc, pero definitivamente es fluido.

And then somwhere else it reads: "When the valve is activated, fluid flow is initiated so that instead of certain fluid conduits that are filled with substantially stationary fire extinguishing fluid, the fire extinguishing fluid flows through the conduits, prior to opening of any sprinkler." The word "liquid" is not used in the text.

Asker: En esa cuestión es donde tengo duda, pues se supone que un fluido se encuentra en estado líquido, hasta donde recuerdo la equivalencia de fluid y liquid en inglés no es la misma para español, es algo absurdo pero ya le dí tantas vueltas que no sé qué es lo correcto. Gracias por la observación de extintor y supresor, en el texto dice específicamente "suppression".
