Hola María,

Con vista a esto, "boss" se refiere a la siguiente acepción:

a. an area of increased thickness, usually cylindrical, that strengthens or provides room for a locating device on a shaft, hub of a wheel, etc
b. a similar projection around a hole in a casting or fabricated component

Lo cual creo que también se podría utilizar para clavos... pero todavía no encuentro la traducción de boss en este caso... a ver si la encontramos.

No lo había visto, a mi tampoco me calza...habran querido decir "screw boss"-"tornillo de refuerzo"...será clavo de refuerzo? Aquí pondré mas contexto:
