Explanation:
La línea imaginaria que podría trazarse en el suelo y que se extendería hasta las puntas más salientes de las ramas de la copa del árbol.

Por ejemplo:

Árbol con daño subterráneo. Las raíces de los árboles crecen en la superficie, ocupan unos 600mm de suelo (1) y se extienden hasta la línea de goteo delimitada por su copa y casi siempre más allá.

La definición en inglés:

drip line
The line that could be drawn on the ground under a tree beneath the outermost tips of the branches. Rain flows off the tree at this point, so it is the area where roots congregate and the best point to place fertilizer, water, etc.
